JACOB PENNER

Jacob Penner, a Cavalier county, N. D., resident for 70 years, died in a Cavalier hospital Oct. 7, 1964, after an illness of four years duration.

Funeral services were held at Bethel Mennonite Church, Dresden, N. D. on Oct. 12 with Rev. Frank Ewert and Rev. Peter Ackerman officiating. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery.

Jacob Penner, son of Martin Penner and Margaret Neufeldt [sic Neufeld] Penner, was born Jan. 6, 1890, in Minsterburg [sic Münsterberg], Russia, where he lived for three years before coming with his parents to Gretna, Man., in 1893. He lived in Canada for one year and then moved with his parents to the United States where he became a citizen.

Mr. Penner married the former Katherine Veer on Nov. 20, 1917, in Waterloo township.

He farmed in Waterloo township for 46 years. He bought his own farm in 1938 and lived here for 20 years until building a home in Langdon, N. D. in 1958.

Survivors include Mrs. Harold Pfeiffer (Margaret), Langdon, N. D.; Mrs. Gerald Schanz (Marian), Detroit Lakes, Minn.; Mrs. Albert Thompson (Irene), Hannah, N. D.; Jacob, Starkweather, N. D.; Isaac; Nicolas [sic Nicholas}, Seattle, Wash.; Abraham, Fargo, N. D.; Herman, Whitefish, Mont.; Henry, Astoria, Ore.; Elaine, Seattle, Wash; and David, Langdon, N. D.

His brothers and sisters include Mrs. Mary Gasink, Walhalla, N. D., Peter Penner and Katie Toews, Columbia Falls, Mont.; Mrs. Annie Etterman, Newton, Kan.; Henry, Fresno, Calif.; John, Wales, N. D.; Mrs. Helen Veer, Langdon, N. D., and Mrs. Isabelle Veer, Langdon, N. D.
