M. B. Minister Died At Sardis
Sardis, British Columbia. — Rev. Cornelius Penner, well-known minister of the Greendale M.B. church here, died suddenly of a heart attack while attending a milk board meeting here on Jan. 17. Earlier in the day he had led the devotions in a missionary committee meeting.
He was born in the Molotschna Colony, Russia, on Aug. 24, 1893. He served in the medical corps in World War I. Less than one year after his marriage to Miss Katy Dyck, she and their newborn son passed away, and after this experience he surrendered his heart to the Lord.
In 1923 he married Miss Sara Born, and in 1926 they came to Canada, living at Sidelia, Alberta for eight years. There he was baptized and became a member of the M.B. church. While living at Riley, Alberta, he was head of the M.B. church at that place, and later helped in the ministry in British Columbia.
