Locker Plant Operator Killed at Crossing
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR HENRY PEKRUL, 67, HELD AT GOLTRY, OKLA.
Enid, Okla. — Funeral services for Henry Pekrul, 67, well-known locker plant operator at Pond Creek, Okla. who died in a New Year's Day railroad crossing accident there, were held Jan. 5 at the Zoar Mennonite church near Goltry.
Mr. Pekrul was traveling alone in his car when he drove into the path of a southbound Rock Island Rocket passenger train in Pond Creek.
The train, traveling about 65 miles per hour, knocked the car up into the air and it came to rest on its wheels about 50 feet away. Mr. Pekrul was thrown out through the right rear door. It was thought he did not see the train because of the depot about a block away.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie; three sons and three daughters; and several grandchildren.
