Death Claims Lancaster County Centenarian
Lancaster, Pa. — Death claimed one of Lancaster County's oldest residents recently with the passing of Mrs. Martha Peifer at the home of her son, Benjamin Peifer, at Millersville. She was 102.
She was a member of the Millersville Mennonite Church, and burial was made in the church cemetery.
When she reached 100 years, Mrs. Peifer was feted at a birthday observance by friends and relatives. [On her 101st birthday she was honored at a quiet family relatives. sic duplicated in original] On her 101st birthday she was honored at a quiet family gathering in the home of her son. At that time she was still able to go out, but failing eyesight limited her enjoyment of reading.
Besides the son, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Kreider, also of Millersville, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
