Little Boy Puts Letter in Box, Darts Into Auto's Path

Belleville, Pa. — A little boy's eagerness to do an errand for his mother ended tragically here.

Five-year-old Samuel Jay Peachey went with his mother, Mrs. Samuel P. Peachey, to mail a letter at their rural mailbox along the highway. As his mother waited, he crossed the highway and placed the letter in the box. He then started back toward his mother, but an auto came over a small rise and struck him, causing instant death.

The funeral was held at the Valley A. M. Church. \
