AMISH BISHOP OF BELLEVILLE, PENNA. CALLED BY DEATH
Belleville, Pa. — John B. Peachey bishop of the Amish church here, was born near Belleville on May 13, 1876, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rudy Yoder, on Feb. 20.
He joined the Amish church in his youth and was ordained to the ministry in 1911, serving in his capacity of minister and bishop as long as his health permitted. On Dec. 28, 1899, he was married to Rebecca Bawel, who preceded him in death three years ago.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Seth Byler of Hartville, Ohio and Jesse D. Spicher of the home congregation. Relatives and friends from a number of states and Ontario, Canada attended.
Surviving are one son, John E., two daughters, Mrs. Rudy Yoder and Mrs. David Kanagy; 16 grandchildren; and one brother, David E. Peachey.
