ABRAM [sic ABRAHAM] D. PEACHEY

Abraham D. Peachey was born Feb. 16, 1892, at Allensville, Pa., son of the late Abraham Z. and Barbara Zook Peachey; died Sept. 20, 1950, aged 58 years, seven months and four days.

On Nov. 30, 1915, he was united in marriage with Nancy Yoder by Bishop David C. Peachey. He is survived by his sorrowing companion and the following children: Mrs. Dan B. (Lena) Peight, Daniel M., Mrs. David S. (Katie) Kanagy and Susie Y. at home.

In his youth he joined the Old Order Amish church in which faith he died. On Oct. 2, 1927, he was ordained to the ministry through the lot.

On Feb. 5, 1942, he suffered a light paralytic stroke from which he soon recovered. On June 4, 1948, he submitted to a throat operation at the St. Josephs hospital, Lancaster, Pa. Soon after he came home from the hospital he told us his memory was failing. We noticed his body was getting weaker and he also suffered serveral [sic] strokes. He was on the wheel chair in the winter of 1949-50 until April 1950, when he had another stroke and was in bed until Sept. 14. The 16th he suffered another stroke which left him entirely helpless.

The funeral was held at the home Sept. 23rd by preachers Ben Kauffman and Joel King of Lancaster, Pa. and was largely attended. Pallbearers were John and David Swarey, Joshua and Jacob Peachey. Burial was in the Allensville cemetery.
