LONG-TIME INMAN RESIDENT DIES

Inman, Kan. — Mrs. Anna Pauls, a resident here most of her life died at an Inman nursing home Aug. 31 at the age of 81.

Funeral services were held Monday forenoon at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Rev. P. T. Neufeld officiating.

MRS. ANNA PAULS

Mrs. Anna Pauls, our mother and sister, was born April 12, 1876, near Inman, Kan. the daughter of Johann and Aganetha Neufeld. Her schooling was meager and only in the German language.

She was baptized upon her confession of faith in her Saviour Jesus Christ on Nov. 24, 1894, by Elder C. M. Wall of Henderson, Neb.

On May 28,1907, she was united in marriage with Rev. Daniel Schmidt. Through this union she became step-mother to four children. Of these one daughter, Mrs. Anna Johnson of Waite Park, Minn., and five grandchildren survive her. To this union was born one daughter, Agnes, who passed on in about a week. At this time they lived at Durham, Kan. where her husband served a congregation. Later they moved to Montana where her husband passed on to eternity after living together 16 years and one month. This pioneer life brought many hardships to them.

On Oct. 25, 1925, she was united in marriage with A. P. Reimer, living at Garden City, Kan. Through this union she became step-mother to two children. One of these, Mrs. Anna Reimer of Giroux, Manitoba, 16 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren remain to mourn her departure. This union lasted for seven years, ten months, until his death.

On May 25, 1941, she was united in marriage with our father Jacob J. Pauls. This union was broken when father passed away on July 16, 1953, after living together 12 years, two months.

All of her life she was a hard worker. After living alone for a little over two years, she moved into the home for the aged at Inman, Kan. where she was cared for very well for almost two years. In May she became ill and gradually grew worse until she became bedfast. On Aug. 30 at 2:10 p. m. she passed on to her reward. During these last weeks she was cared for by her sister, Mrs. Kathrene Hildebrandt and various members of her family. She had a great desire to be with her Saviour. She reached the age of 81 years, four months and 18 days.

From this last union there remain to mourn her departure one stepson, J. T. Pauls; three step-daughters, Mrs. George Regehr, Mrs. Dan P. Ediger, J. B. Neufeld; four step sons-in-law, George Regehr, D. P. Ediger, J. B. Neufeld, G. P. Ediger; and two step daughters-in-law, Mrs. J. T. Pauls and Mrs. G. P. Ediger with their families, all of Inman, Kan.; 83 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. There also remain to mourn her departure four sisters, Miss Agnes Neufeld and Mrs. Susanna Willems of Reedley, Calif., Mrs. Lena Ratzlaff of Kansas City, Mo. and Mrs. Kathrene Hildebrandt of Hutchinson, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary E. Neufeld of Reedley, Calif., many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. — The Bereaved Sisters and Families.
