• Funeral services for Mrs. Frieda Pankratz, 89, who died at Hillsboro on Jan. 16, were held at he Hillsboro M. B. Church on Monday afternoon. She was the widow of Henry J. Pankratz, former president of the First National Bank of Hillsboro, who died on June 1968. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John J. Regier of Wichita, Mrs. B. W. | + | Frieda Hoffman Pankratz, daughter of Frank and Pauline Schimmel Hoffman, was born on Dec. 10, 1879, at Elmo, Kan. where she spent her youth and attended school. As a teenager she recognized her need of salvation, receiving Christ as Saviour, and was received into the Dickinson County Baptist Church upon confession of faith and baptism. |

| + | On Nov. 4, 1903, she was married to Henry J. Pankratz of Hillsboro, Kan., where they made their home for the rest of their lives. The Lord brought joy to our parents through the births of four daughters, one of whom died in 1926. |

| + | While mother gladly stood by our father as he served the community and the church, she also made her own contributions to the life of the church, being active in the missionary circles, serving as organist for music groups, teaching Sunday school, and entertaining visiting missionaries and speakers who came to Tabor College for Bible conferences. Her compassionate spirit was also expressed in taking several of her sisters and others into their home for rather extended periods of time so that they could attend school or receive medical care. |

The Lord's mercy was very evident in their life together, and after ten years of retirement, they moved to Parkside Homes in 1964 where she soon found real joy in fellowshiping [''sic''] with other residents. Our parents' life together, which spanned more than 64 years, was severed with father's death last June, and mother never really recovered from this pain of separation. her health gradually declined until she passed away quietly Jan. 16, 1969, having reached the age of 89 years, one month and six days. |
