Eleven Year Old Girl Drowned in Swimming Pool at Hinton, Oklahoma
Corn, Okla., Aug. 18. — Miss Ruby Pankratz, the eleven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Pankratz of Cordell, was drowned at the Hinton Kiwanis Park swimming pool Sunday afternoon.
The child has been in company with others and only when members of her swimming party missed her, was a search begun. Although there were about 300 persons about in the park at the time of the drowning, none could give an account of just when and how the accident happened.
The body was found by other swimmers after it had been under 5 to 6 feet of water for about fifteen minutes. A young child aided searchers, when she told them that she had seen the girl sink. No life guard was on duty at the pool. Resuscitation efforts were of no success.
The body was taken to Cordell for burial. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Sichar church southwest of Corn. — Washita Co. Enterprise.
