MRS. JAKE J. PANKRATZ
Mrs. Jake J. Pankratz, Hydro, Okla., died Monday morning, June 1, at the Clinton hospital following two major operations. She had been in critical condition for almost three weeks before her death.
Funeral services were held in the Bethel Mennonite church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Waldo Kaufman, minister of the church, and Rev. Henry Hege, Corn, officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. John Fadenrecht, Cordell, and their daughter, Mrs. Jerome Adams, Oklahoma City, sang for the services.
Bearers were Richard Patterson, Pete Wolfe, Arthur Dick, Harold Entz, Henry Entz, and Hubert Schmidt.
Olga Penner Pankratz, daughter of Jacob E. and Anna Remple Penner, was born December 18, 1908, near Hillsboro, Kansas and died at the Clinton hospital at 9:15 a.m. June 1, 1953 having reached the age of 44 years, five months and 13 days.
When she was seven years old, she moved with her parents to Inola, Oklahoma where her father died February 16, 1917. After his death she with the fairly moved back to Hillsboro where they lived until February 6, 1923, when they moved back to Inola. Here on June 13, 1926, she was baptized at Eden Mennonite church by Rev. H. R. Voth and at the time of her death was a member of the Bethel Mennonite church of Hydro.
Her mother died February 1, 1929, leaving eight children. At this time Olga was working in Tulsa where she continued to work until May 24, 1931, when she was married to Jake J. Pankratz in the Eden Mennonite church of Inola. They moved to a farm near Hydro where they lived together 22 years and seven days.
In April 1940 they adopted a three week old son, Wesley James, who has been a source of much joy to his parents.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Jake; her son, Wesley; one sister, Linda, Mrs. Abe Enns, Hillsboro, Kansas; six brothers, Rudolph and Albert, Inola, Oklahoma, John, Coronado, California; Herman, Wichita, Kansas, Wallace, Siloam Springs, Arkansas Jacob Earnest, Moline, Illinois, and many other relatives and friends.
She was a loving wife and mother and a faithful friend, always ready to help wherever she was needed. She was active in church and community affairs and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
