One Dead, Three Hurt In Pennsylvania Crash

Ephrata, Pa. — A New Jersey youth was killed and three Lancaster County young men injured in a one-car crash in Ephrata the morning of Aug. 24.

Dead is James Orlando, 17, of Morristown, N. J. Jerry L. Good, 24, of rural Reinholds, driver of the car, suffered a fractured skull and scalp cuts. His brother Eli, 21, sustained a fractured leg, and Alvin Newswanger, 23, of rural East Earl had scalp and shoulder cuts.

It was reported that the car went over the sidewalk, grazed one telephone pole and then crashed into another pole. The car was totally demolished. The driver was later arrested on several charges, including driving while under the influence of intoxicants.

It was reported that Eli Good and the dead youth were both employed at Good Samaritan hospital in Morristown and were here on a visit.
