Well-Known Eastern District Pastor Dies

Quakertown, Pa. — Funeral services for Dr. Howard G. Nyce, 68, well-known Eastern District Conference pastor, were held June 18 at the Springfield Mennonite Church where he was serving at the time of his death.

Dr. and Mrs. Nyce were driving near Allentown the evening of June 13 when he suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the Allentown hospital where he died early the next morning.

During his long ministry Dr. Nyce served a number of pastorates in the Eastern District and held places of leadership in the conference, including that of president. He also served for many years on the Board of Missions of the General Conference Mennonite Church and the board of directors of Bethel College, Newton, Kan. Before taking the Springfield charge he was pastor of the First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie, Kan.

Survivors include his wife, Eva, and one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Voth and family of Markham, Ill.
