MRS. FANNY NUSSBAUM

Fanny Nussbaum, daughter of John and Maryann (Oberly) Amstutz, was born in Sugar Creek township, Wayne county, Ohio, on May 1, 1870, and passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ezra Lehman, March 29, 1950. She was aged 9 [sic 79] years, 10 months, and 28 days.

In her youth she accepted Christ on her personal Savior, and was received into the Sonnenberg Mennonite church, to which she remained faithful until death.

She was married to Caleb Steiner on March 4, 1897, and to this union nine children were born, eight of whome [sic] survive: Four sons, Lloyd Steiner of Massillon: Homer Steiner of Apple Creek, R. D.; Phares Steiner of Dalton: and Andrew Steiner of Stouffville, Ontario, Canada: four daughters, Alma (Mrs. Ezra Lehman) of Apple Creek, R. D.: Minnie (Mrs. Albert Steiner); Martha (Mrs. Paul Steiner); and Ida (Mrs. Hiram Sommer) all of Orville, R. D.

She is also survived by one brother, P. J. Amstutz, of Dalton; six step-children; 33 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. One daughter, four sisters, one grandchild; one brother; and four step-children preceded her in death.

On Sept. 19, 1910, her companion passed away, leaving her with the many responsibilities of rearing the family alone. Many loving relatives and friends assisted her during those trying years.

In May 1925, she was married to Isaac Nussbaum who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1945.

Her faith in God, and her fellowship with Him sustained her through trials and disappointments and in her last illness she expressed her faith in the goodness of her Lord. She was patient in suffering, and looked to the Lord to take her home to Himself in His own appointed time.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, April 1, 1950, at the Sonnenberg Mennonite church with Rev. Louis Amstutz and Rev. Reuben Hofstetter officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, Elno and Lee Steiner, Wilford and Chester Steiner, Wayne and Junior Lehman. Burial in the church cemetery.

Relatives who came from a distance for the funeral included Andrew Steiner and wife and two sons of Stouffville, Ont., Rev. and Mrs. Araon [sic Aaron] Grove of Markham, Ont., Hiram Augsburger of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Alvin Augsburger, Mr. and Mrs. Watson Steiner and Mrs. Clair Heer of Bluffton, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fahlman and son of Detroit, Mich.
