EVA NORTH

My beloved companion, our mother, our daughter, and our sister, Eva Doerksen North, was born to Frank K. and Minnie Doerksen on October 31, 1946, at Steinbach, Manitoba. She unexpectedly passed away at home on November 24, 1984, near Fredonia, Kansas. She reached the age of 38 years and 24 days. Death was caused by a massive heart attack.

At the age of twelve she felt the call of God and gave her heart to Him. Upon the confession of her faith, she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on April 27, 1958, at Greenland, Manitoba. She remained true to her vows to the end.

Eva spent her girlhood years in the Greenland area, where she received her education. In 1970, together with her family, she moved to Cartwright, Manitoba. Much of her time from age twenty-one until marriage was spent away from home at jobs and Church-related work.

On September 5, 1976, she was united in marriage to me, Francis North. Together we shared life's joys and sorrows for a little over eight years. To this union were born two daughters and three sons.

Even though Eva's life was short, she lived a full life. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed reading to and singing with her children. Her willingness to give of herself for others won her many friends. She had a close tie with her family and friends and faithfully corresponded with them. Her genuine interest in others gave them confidence to share concerns and struggles with her. We will long remember Eva's example of patience, devotion, and strong faith in God. She leaves us with a full assurance that she was ready to meet her Maker.

Those left behind to cherish fond memories are: her husband, Francis; two daughters: Rose Anna, 7; Lonetta Joy, 5; three sons: William Lee, 4; Marcus Chester, 2; Steven Ray, 2 weeks; her parents, Frank and Minnie Doerksen, Cartwright, Manitoba; four brothers: Melvin and wife Margaret; Leslie; Allen; and Bruce, all of Cartwright; five sisters: Norma, Cartwright; Frances; presently in Haiti; Melinda, Cartwright; Hannah, Linden, Alberta; Amanda and husband Galen Toews, Cartwright.

One infant sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted on November 28, 1984, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Fredonia, Kansas. Ministers Milton Koehn and James Shultz were in charge. Burial was in the Koger Cemetery, with Minister Orville Friesen in charge.
