Albany, Ore. &#8212; A July 4 pleasure trip in a light airplane ended in tragedy when the plane crashed, killing two of the four occupants.

Dead are Gerald Horn of Lebanon and his grandson, Mark Leon Nofziger, 13, son of Mr and Mrs. Bernard Nofziger of Lebanon.

Mr. Horn with Mr. Nofziger and sons Mark and Gary were on a flight to Green Peter Dam and Green Lake when the plane crashed into the mountainside while passing through a canyon. Mr. Horn was instantly killed, and Mark died before help could reach the scene. Gary escaped with minor cuts and bruises, while Mr. Nofziger sustained a broken collarbone and lacerations of the scalp and hand, but was able to walk out to summon help.

13-Year-Old Youth, Grandfather Killed in Oregon Plane Crash

Albany, Ore. — A July 4 pleasure trip in a light airplane ended in tragedy when the plane crashed, killing two of the four occupants.

Dead are Gerald Horn of Lebanon and his grandson, Mark Leon Nofziger, 13, son of Mr and Mrs. Bernard Nofziger of Lebanon.

Mr. Horn with Mr. Nofziger and sons Mark and Gary were on a flight to Green Peter Dam and Green Lake when the plane crashed into the mountainside while passing through a canyon. Mr. Horn was instantly killed, and Mark died before help could reach the scene.
