LOUISE LEHMAN NISWANDER

Louise Lehman Niswander, daughter of Jacob and Mary Staufer Lehman, was born April 7, 1879 in Switzerland and died April 29, 1966 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Erman Baughman of Bloomfield, Iowa, after an extended illness at the age of 87 years and 22 days.

She moved to the United States with her parents at the age of four years. She was reared in the Bluffton-Pandora, Ohio area and attended school in that vicinity.

She became a member of the St. John's Mennonite Church at Pandora, Ohio at an early age and was a member of the Pulaski Mennonite Church at the time of her death.

She married M. A. Niswander Jan. 7, 1900 at Bluffton, Ohio. They were the parents of one son and three daughters.

Sixteen years of their early married life were spent in the ministry of Mennonite churches in Goshen, Ind., Nampa, Idaho, Pulaaski, Iowa, and Dalton, Ohio. They lived in Upland, Calif. during their retirement years.

Survivors include one son, Paul at Concord, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Baughman of Bloomfield, Iowa, Mrs. Catharine Latham of San Diego, Calif. and Mrs. Alice Kliewer of Laguna Beach, Calif.; one brother, Albert Lehman of Pandora, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Zimmerly of Bluffton, Ohio and Mrs. Velma Badertscher of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Her pastor, Frank R. Mitchell, officiated at the services on Sunday afternoon, May 1. Interment was made at the Pulaski West Cemetery.
