Farmer, Pilot Killed In Plane Crash While Searching For Cow

Lancaster, Pa. — An aerial search for a lost cow ended in death for a 32-year-old farmer of rural Elizabethtown and the airplane pilot.

Unable to locate the missing animal, J. Luke Nissley chartered a plane from a nearby flying service. The plane went into a nose dive and crashed in a meadow near the Nissley farm home. The pilot, Ike Patzer of Lancaster, died instantly and Mr. Nissley died an hour later. The cause of the crash is unknown.

Mr. Nissley is survived by his widow, the former Verna Zeager, and five children of the home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nissley. He was a member of the Good's Mennonite Church, where the funeral was conducted on Sept. 29.
