Virginia Farmer Dies In Silo Accident
Catlett, Va. — An accident in a silo at his farm near here claimed the life of John D. Nissley, a member of the Beachy Amish Mennonite congregation at this place.
His body was found in the silo by his son, Dan Nissley, who went to investigate when the father failed to return from getting down silage. The elder Mr. Nissley apparently was trying to operate the silo unloader and somehow became entangled in the machinery. Most of his clothing had been torn off and he had several leg fractures.
Funeral services were conducted Jan. 23 at the local Beachy A. M. Church, with Noah Miller of Lewisburg, Pa. and J. J. Hershberger of Lynnhaven, Va. officiating.
