BEN L. NIKKEL

Ben L. Nikkel was born to John D. and Helena (Loewen) Nikkel on Dec. 18, 1910 near Hillsboro, Kan., and died Feb. 14, 1967 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, Kan., reaching the age of 56 years, one month and 27 days.

He grew to manhood on a farm southwest of Hillsboro and received his education in the Hope Valley School.

Upon confession of his faith, he was baptized March 12, 1933, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

On July 30, 1933 he was married to Justina Friesen by Min. Abr. G. Ensz. They established their home near Hillsboro. In the summer of 1936 they moved on a farm near Windom, Kan. He was engaged in farming, but was also active in the machinist trade, having talent as an inventor.

Father enjoyed good health until last year, when cancer set in. On July 2, 1966 he submitted to surgery, recovering again to be at home with the family until Sunday evening, Feb. 12 when he was taken to the hospital.

He leaves to mourn his departure his companion; two daughters, Lillian, Mrs. James Hiebert of Hillsboro, and Betty, Mrs. Dale Ensz, of Inman; two sons, Stanley of the home and Leroy of Inman; eight grandchildren; seven sisters, Marie, Mrs. C. P. Wohlgemuth, Ste. Anne, Man., Tena, Mrs. P. K. Friesen, Glenn, Calif., Helena, Mrs. Nick Wiebe, Margaret, Mrs. Abe Ensz, and Agnes, Mrs. Frank Hiebert, all of Hillsboro, Susie, Mrs. Tom Eason, Winton, Calif., and Eva, Mrs. John R. Ensz, Conway, Kan.; five brothers, Dave of Salem, Ore., Pete and Anton (Tony) of Inman, Aaron of Scott City, and Henry of McPherson; and his aged parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. I. K. Friesen of Inman.

Funeral services were held Feb. 18, 1967 in the Zion Church, Inman, conducted in Mi. Abe. Nikkel and Min. John A. Ensz. — The Family.
