In 1932 her family moved to Virgil, Onto Helen accepted Jesus as her Saviour at an early age and in 1943 she was baptized and received into the Virgil church where she was a willing worker in Sunday school, DVBS and singing groups. She received her train· ing and spiritual nourishment in Eden high school and Bible school. In 1948 she married Clarence Nickel and that year they transferred their membership to the Scott St. Church in St. Catharines, Ont. A special highlight in her life was their silver wedding anniversary in the Grantham church in 1973. A year later she became ill and underwent four operations from April to November. She expressed her testings in a series of poems that speak first of great spiritual battles, then of surrender, and finally of victory in Christ Jesus. One of her poems, "Niagara Cottage Hospital," was read in the church with the obituary. On February 17 God released her spirit and took her home . She leaves to mourn her husband, Clarence; five children, Marlene, Robert, Philip, Sandy , and Jamie, all at home; her parents, John and Annie Kliewer of Virgil: one brother, Peter Kliewer of St. Catharines; three sisters, Mary (Mrs. Cornelius) Penner of St. Catharines, Anne (Mrs. Abe) Willms of Virgil, Alvina (Mrs. John) Koop of Kitchener and their families .
