John Cornelius Nickel died Dec. 2. He was born Apr. 13, 1924 in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine to Cornelius and Justina Nickel. The family suffered much during the political unrest before and after WW11. After the war, John moved to Canada, first settling in Manitoba in 1949. He married Anna Zielke June 7, 1952 and they moved to Virgil, Ont. John was a construction worker until 1963. He then worked for General Motors until retirement in 1989. John accepted Jesus as Saviour in the early 1960s. He had many interests such as reading, music, the outdoors, and working at Camp Crossroads. In 1994, he was diagnosed with cancer and not expected to live. Yet God gave him 12 more years. Predeceased by Anna in 2002; he is mourned by his children Frank (Judith), Henry, Anneliese Barry) Adams, and Marlene (Doug) Englisch; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother.
