Adolph Nick was born in Russia on Oct. 1, 1878 to David and Mathilda Nick. He came to America as a young boy and was converted and baptized in his youth upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ. He received his grammar school education in Hillsboro, Kan. and Fairview, Okla. He also attended Bible schools at Fairview, Okla. and Tabor , Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Katherine Eitzen on June 24, 1915 at Lehigh, Kan. by Rev. Peter Wiebe. Five children were born to this union.

Mr. Nick served as a missionary for approximately 13 years among the Mexicans and Indians in Old Mexico in the vicinities of Tuxpan and Vera Cruz. He also served as pastor of the Pennsylvania Mennonite Church in Tuleta, Texas for seven years. Fifteen years were spent in serving various community churches in California.

The family settled in the Dinuba area in 1925. He was received as a member of the Zion K.M.B. Church on April 2, 1926.

For the past one and a half years he had been living in the Mennonite Brethren Home for the Aged in Shafter. The desire of his heart was granted when he was quietly and peacefully called home to be with his Lord on Dec. 28, 1966 in a convalescent home in Bakersfield where he had just been transferred the day prior to his departure. he was 88 years of age at his death.

He is survived by three sons, Adolph of North Bend, Wash., Daniel of Nampa, Idaho, and Paul of Frazier Park, Calif.; three daughters-in-law; 11 grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. His wife and two daughters preceded him in death. — The Family.
