MRS. CARRIE NICHOLS

Carrie Nightengale [sic Nachitgal] Nichols, daughter of Benjamin and Katherine Nightengale [sic Nachitgal], was born in Marion county, Kansas on Dec. 7, 186, and died in her home at Fairview, Okla. August 11, 1959, at the age of 72 years eight months and four days.

After spending her early childhood in Kansas, she came with her parents to Oklahoma at the age of eight years, sharing many of the early pioneer hardships with them. She received her education at te [sic] Ruck school.

She was married to Adam A. Nichols on March 18, 1909, at Fairview, Okla. They made their home on a rented farm southeast of Fairview for 11 years, and then bought a farm of their own and built the home where she was residing at the time of her death. Last March 22 they had the blessed privilege of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Mother greatly rejoiced for all the goodness God had bestowed on them.

She and her husband were converted in 1911, and through baptism became members of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite Dec. 12 of the same year. The Lord blest them with six children, three sons and three daughters. She was a good mother and was concerned for the spiritual welfare of her children and prayed much for them. She also expressed her concern for the salvation of her grandchildren.

In 1952 Mother fell and broke her hip, which in time healed so that she could walk and get around well again. About one year ago she began to suffer from Parkinson's disease, for which the doctors told her there was no cure, but her health improved some. Her sickness brought her closer to her Lord and her heart was filled with love and concern for others.

After feeling ill for about four days, during which she had several doctor's check ups, she passed away unexpectedly from a heart ailment. Mother had a living faith in God and has gone to her eternal reward.

She leaves to mourn her sudden and unexpected departure, her sorrowing companion; three sons, Ruben A. and wife Pauline and Frank L. and wife Martha of Fairview, Okla., Jesse and wife Anna of Isabella, Okla.; three daughters, Katheryn and Susie of the home, and Elizabeth and husband Fred Penner, Jr. of Isabella, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Fred Nightengale [sic Nightingale] of Fairview, Okla.; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Koehn of Montezuma, Kan., Elizabeth, Mrs. Joe Koehn of South Gate, Calif., Mary, Mrs. John Johnson of Shattuck, Okla., Helen, Mrs. Albert Schmidt, and Katie, Mrs. Henry Schmidt of Fairbanks, Texas.

The parents, three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Fairview church. Min. Dan Smith read John 14:1, and Min. Elmer Boehs read James 4:14, II Cor. 13:14 and Rev. 14:13.

The body was laid to rest in the Cedar cemetery. — The Family.
