AGED MAN CALLED 18 DAYS BEFORE HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY

Fairview, Mich. — Wm. Newton of this community passed away at the West Branch, Mich. hospital on Sept. 10, just 18 days before he would have celebrated his 100th birthday. Funeral services were held at the Fairview Mennonite church Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 13, and burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.

Mr. Newton could be seen walking the streets of Fairview until quite recently. Some weeks ago he entered a convalescent home at Mio, Mich. While there he fell and fractured his hip, and was then admitted to the hospital, where he soon succumbed from the effects of the injury. Doctors stated he also suffered from cancer.
