● Mrs. Katy K. Neufeldt, 81, a resident of the Sunshine Home, Buhler, died Dec. 5 at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson after a brief illness. She was a native of the Inman community, and was married to Jacob G. Neufeldt, who died in 1961. Surviving are three sons and two daughters; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, I. H. Balzer of Buhler. The funeral was conducted Thursday afternoon at the Hebron Mennonite Church, with Rev. Marlin Kim in charge.

KATY K. NEUFELDT

Katy K. (Balzer) Neufeldt, daughter of John and Sarah Penner Balzer, was born Dec. 24, 1885, to a pioneer Mennonite farm family near Inman, Kan. She attended the Lake Valley School for several years.

On Sept. 6, 1903, mother was baptized by Rev. Bernhard Buhler, and became a member of the Hebron Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

On Dec. 16, 1903, she was married to Jacob G. Neufeldt and together they established their home on a farm. To this union were born seven children, Sarah, Esther, Carl J., Jacob B., Arthur D., Tena, and Anna. Of these, Sarah and Esther died in infancy. Mother and Dad were privileged to celebrate both their silver and golden wedding anniversaries.

Mother gave expression to her faith by having a deep concern for the personal salvation of the children and grandchildren. Her faithful church attendance was highlighted by her willingness to serve as a devout Sunday school teacher for many years. Mother also had a concern for missions, which found expression in her skilled knitting of bandages. She loved her garden and her flowers. Her love for music was frequently expressed in the early hours of the morning, as she would sit down at the piano to play.

Mother and Dad shared 58 years of their married life on a farm in McPherson County near Inman. In 1960 they established their residence in the Sunshine Home, Buhler, Kan. Following Dad's passing on Feb. 26, 1961, mother continued to live at the Home, until Dec. 3, 1967, when she made her final trip to Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, Kan. She passed to her eternal reward on Dec. 5, 1967, having attained the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Carl and wife Esther of Mt. Vernon, N. Y., Jacob and wife Alma of Inman, Arthur and wife Margaret of Inman, Mrs. Tena Balzer of Buhler, and Miss Anna Neufeldt of Baltimore, Md. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one brother, I. H. Balzer. — The Bereaved Family.
