(MRS.)SARA NEUFELD

Sara Neufeld was born to David and Sara Wiens on September 23, 1906 in the village of Herzenberg, in southern Russia. In her early years she accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour and soon after was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1930, together with the rest of her family, she made the terrifying flight through Moscow to safety in Germany. From there they came to rural Manitoba and then to Winnipeg. She was a member of the North Kildonan Church from its beginning and was very active in the church-singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, serving as a member of the youth committee, being part of the welcoming committee and for years decorating the church Sunday after Sunday with flowers.

In 1939, she married Nick Neufeld, a union blessed with two children. She first became seriously ill ten years ago, and since then was subjected to 10 operations. She suffered much, but seldom showed her pain. She was cheerful and full of joy and courage. Her faith increased as her health deteriorated. On August 30 she was called to be with the Lord.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Lillian, and husband Harold Pauls; a son, Arnold, and wife Lois; two grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers.
