MRS. MARIA NEUFELD

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Penner, (Mrs.) Maria Neufeld was born on March 6, 1887 in Lindenau, Molotschna, in southern Russia. On November 21, 1910 she married Johann Neufeld, also of Lindenau. The Neufelds emigrated to Canada in 1926, and settled first in Leamington, Ontario. They later moved to Virgil, Ontario. In Virgil the Neufelds were both baptized on the confession of their faith and joined the local Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1949 they moved to Kitchener, Ontario, where Mr. Neufeld passed away in 1955. Mrs. Neufeld entered the Vineland Home for the Aged in 1960, and this remained her home until she passed away on March 11. She was predeceased by her husband and her only son, Henry.

A funeral service was held on March 14 in the Kitchener, Mennonite Brethren Church, at which pastor John Froese officiated, assisted by Rev. Isaac Thiessen of Strathroy. She is mourned by her only daughter, Annie (Mrs. Toly) Isaac of Kitchener; a daughter-in-law, Katherine Neufeld of California; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
