Minister, Educator Dies in Br. Columbia

Sardis, B. C. — Rev. Henry H. Neufeld, 54, pastor of the Greendale Mennonite Church here since 1963, died May 10 after undergoing heart surgery.

The funeral was conducted in the auditorium of the Mennonite Educational Institute, Clearbrook, by Rev. P. J. Froese and Rev. H. Brandt.

Rev. Neufeld was born in Russia and came to Canada in 1926. He was ordained to the ministry at Rosemary, Alberta in 1942. Since coming to British Columbia three years later he had served the West Abbotsford Mennonite Church, the Vancouver Mennonite Mission, which he founded in 1952, the East Chilliwack Mennonite Church, and the Greendale Church.

Rev. Neufeld also served at the Bethel Bible Institute, Abbotsford, from 1948 to 1952, first as teacher and later as principal.
