• Miss Bertha E. Neufeld, 71, died Dec. 10 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston after a long illness. A native of the Buhler community, she had lived at Moundridge for 30 years before entering the Villa in August of this year. She was a sister of Mrs. Harry Rutschman of Newton, and also leaves four brothers. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the West Zion Mennonite Church, with Rev. Marvin Zehr officiating.

BERTHA E. NEUFELD
Bertha E. Neufeld, daughter of John and Katie (Ewy) Neufeld, was born near Buhler in Harvey County, Kansas on Feb. 23, 1897, and died on Dec. 10, 1968 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, having reached the age of 71 years, nine months and 17 days.
Upon her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, she was baptized on March 9, 1915 by Rev. William Galle, and was received into the Garden Township Mennonite Church. On March 27, 1955, she transferred her membership to the West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge, where she remained a faithful member until her death.
She spent the first 15 years of her life in the Buhler community. She received her elementary education at the Willis School. The remainder of her life was spent in the Moundridge community, until she made her home at the Schowalter Villa in Hesston in September of this year.
Bertha suffered a stroke on June 27, 1968 and since that time she XXXX often expressed the desire to be relieved of her suffering and pain to be with her Lord. Yet through the weeks and months of therapy and recovery, she never gave up hope of life and seemed to have a reservoir of patience. She always enjoyed the fellowship and visits of relatives and friends, especially during the course of her final illness.
