VERNA BETTY NEUFELD

Verna Betty Neufeld, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Neufeld, was born May 20, 1938 in Main Centre, Sask. Four years later her parents moved to British Columbia. Here she was privileged to remain in one locality during her younger years.

She was brought up in a Christian atmosphere, enjoying Sunday School and church services. It was the privilege of Miss Hulda Neufeld to lead her to Jesus Christ in her childhood years. On March 3, 1957 she was baptized into the Kennedy Heights Mennonite Brethren Church, in which her parents are also members. Verna has been faithful and active. She sang in the choir and in trios, taught Sunday School, assisted in youth work and other church activities. Even in the days when she was ailing she insisted on performing her duties.

This same attitude of faithfulness was evident in her work in Vancouver. In April, '61 she took a job there, in which she was very much appreciated. Her Christian witness in the office was highly spoken of.

About two and a half years ago her present illness took on a more serious nature. She voiced complaints of not feeling well. Inspite of medical attention her illness continued. It became so severe that she had to be hospitalized. During this period Verna requested prayer for her healing. The church gathered for prayer, and several brethren went down to especially pray over her for God's healing, if this was His will. However, it pleased the Lord to take her home. She died at the age of 26 years, 3 months, 29 days. The night of her death she left these encouraging words to be transmitted to the church; "I am happy in the Lord."

She leaves to mourn: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Neufeld, a brother, Leo. a sister, Dora, and many relatives and friends.

We would like to express our appreciation to the medical staff, which did their very best for Verna; the many who came to visit her; for the many who brought her flowers and assured her of their prayers.

May we say thank-you for all your love and sympathy. The bereaved Family.
