FRANK JOHN NEUFELD

Frank John Neufeld of Clearbrook, B.C . passed away Jan. 3. He was born Feb. 5, 1916 to John and Margaretha Neufeld in Wiesenfeld, Ekaterinoslav, southern Russia. In 1921 the family immigrated to Beechy, Sask., later moving to Lucky Lake, Sask. In November, 1941 he moved to B.C. In 1944 he joined the medical corps and was stationed in Kingston, Ont. He married Betty Neufeld Jan. 5, 1946. He was discharged in August and they moved to a farm in B.C. He came to know the Lord in his late teens but was unsure of his salvation, thinking he may have responded to peer pressure. In 1958 he recommitted his life to Christ at a Brunk tent meeting and was baptized in Clearbrook MB Church. In church he served as treasurer and usher, helped with the food committee and was a faithful, cheerful giver. He worked as an auto-body man for 33 years. He was patient, conscientious and a hard worker, and was a good gardener and handyman. He loved to tell stories, and Bible stories, to his children. He suffered a stroke in 1981 but recovered due to grace and will power. He kept busy with puzzles, hook rugs and games with his grandchildren, growing closer to his family and God. Predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother, he is mourned by his wife; son Herman of Clearbrook; daughters Lillian Goodwin of Cranbrook, B.C., Dolores Wall of Clearbrook, Marge Giesbrecht of Cecil Lake, B.C., Judy Abrahams of Clearbrook and Flo Rempel of Abbotsford, B.C.; 22 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The funeral was Jan. 7 in Central Heights MB Church, Abbotsford, with Rudy Boschman and Al McVety ministering.
