MRS. AGNES NEUFELD
Mrs. J. H. Neufeld, nee Agnes Schmidt, was born Dec. 6, 1892, in Dundee, Kansas, and went to her eternal reward on June 5, 1959, at 3:10 p. m. in an Anthony, Kansas Hospital. She reached the age of 66 years, five months and 29 days.
On March 26, 1916, she was united in holy wedlock to John H. Neufeld at Medford, Okla. They built a home on the farm northeast of Medford and resided there until 1946, when they moved to east of Medford and resided there until 1946, when they moved to Medford and established their home there.
In her early youth she sensed her need of a personal Saviour and gave her life to him. She was baptized on April 24, 1910, by Rev. H. R. Voth, assisted by Rev. Henry Goede, and received into the Medford Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, John; one son, Harry of Medford, one daughter, Goldie (Mrs. D. G. Regier) of Lynden, Wash.; a daughter-in-law; a son-in-law; three grandchildren; her stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Schmidt of Newton, Kansas; three sisters, Eva (Mrs. B. H. Schmidt) of Newton, Kansas, Anna (Mrs. D. B. Schmidt) and Katie (Mrs. Henry Warkentin) of Peabody, Kansas; five half-sisters, Marie (Mrs. Neal Redger) of Durham, Kansas, Martha Schmidt of Newton, Kansas, Freda (Mrs. Herman Flaming) of Medford, Juanita (Mrs. Waldo Neufeld) of Hutchinson, Kan., and Lorena (Mrs. Edward Friesen) of Medford; four half-brothers, Ben T. Schmidt of Medford, John Schmidt of Blackwell, Okla., Albert Schmidt of Medford, and David T. Schmidt of Newton, Kansas.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were two brothers in infancy, one sister in early childhood and one brother in early manhood.
She was a faithful and loving wife and mother, and was always much concerned about the needs of her family and the welfare of others, being concerned also that her children be led to the Lord in their early years. She was a great blessing and real helpmate to her husband.
She has been a faithful prayer warrior, visiting many sick ones and serving her Saviour by making many garments for those in need here at home as well as for foreign mission work.
Mother was patient in much suffering and exemplified a life of faith and trust in her Saviour to the end.
Funeral services were held at the Medford Mennonite Church on Tuesday afternoon, June 9, with Rev. A. G. Schmidt, former pastor, officiating. Rev. Jacob Nickel, interim pastor, assisted in the service. Rev. Daniel Regier, son-in-law, spoke at the service in the Hills Funeral Chapel, Medford. — The Family.
