Neudorf, Heinz Roland (1966-1968)
Mennonite Weekly Review obituary: 1968 Aug 8 p. 2
Birth date: 1966
text of obituary:
Neuland Colony, Paraguay. — The murder of a night watchman in the Neuland Colony and the drowning of a small boy in Fernheim colony shocked Mennonite communities in this area.
A nighttime robbery of the Tiege store resulted in the death of Watchman Funk. When Abram Duerksen, the store manager, arrived at his place of business the following morning he found Funk's body in front of the store, his hands and feet still bound and a sack beside him. Apparently use of the sack suffocated Funk, which was also ruled as the cause of death by a physician.
The thieves had forced the door open and taken ammunition, a pistol, blankets, cash and other items. Loss was estimated at 14,000 guaranis.
An evening fall proved fatal to Heinz Roland, two-year-old son of Fernheim Teacher Helmut Neudorf. At an unguarded moment the boy fell into a deep water hole and drowned.
