EARL C. MYERS

Earl C. Myers, 45, of Greencastle, Pa., passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday evening, April 26, 1960. A heifer from a nearby public auction had wandered onto the Myers premises and while Mr. Myers endeavored to prevent her from going into their garden he was suddenly stricken with a heart attack and died within a few minutes.

On Dec. 30, 1937 he was united in marriage to Ruth Naomi Ebersole of Chambersburg, Pa. He is survived by his companion and five children, Richard, Glen, Rachel, Sharon, and Karen, all at home. He was preceded in death by an infant son in 1941.

A number of brothers and sisters also are left to mourn the loss with the family.

He was a faithful member of the Mennonite church at Chambersburg, Pa., was a teacher in the Sunday school and also took part in the young people's meeting and other church activities whenever asked to do so.

He will be sadly missed in the home, the church, and in the community where he lived in a quiet, unassuming way. He had a concern for his family and the church.

Funeral services were held April 30 at the Chambersburg Mennonite church, where a large group gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. It was very evident that he had many friends. Services were conducted by Bishops Amos E. Martin and Harvey Shank. Rev. Reuben Martin, a neighbor, also assisted in the services. Text Matt. 24:44. His body was laid to rest in the nearby cemetery to a [sic] “await the summons from on high.”
