VOLTAIRE MUELLER

Voltaire Mueller, son of Theodore Mueller and Anna (Becker) Mueller Ratzlaff, was born on Aug.5, 1910, at Meno, Okla. He departed this life to enter into the presence of his Lord on Aug. 16, 1960, in Enid, Okla., having attained the age of 50 years and 11 days. He had been under doctor's care for the past several months, having had surgery for the removal of a malignant tumor of the kidney. Later the disease spread and it was necessary for him to spend the last five and a half weeks of his life in the hospital.

The church and the service of his Lord occupied a major place in his interest and effort. Upon his conversion to personal faith in Christ as Savior, he was baptised by Rev. H. U. Schmidt on June 23, 1929, and was received into the fellowship of the New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno, transferring to the Grace Mennonite Church in Enid in 1947. The music of the church was a special blessing in his life, and he especially enjoyed singing with the men's chorus.

On May 26, 1935, he was joined in marriage to Rubena Nichols. Their home was blessed with two daughters and one son. This spring they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by spending the day with their children in Omaha, Neb. The trip to Omaha was of special enjoyment to him as he was able to attend the graduation exercises of his oldest daughter from Grace Bible institute and was able to spend several days in the home of his son, who was also a student there.

He was a kind and loving father. The spiritual life of his children was of deep concern and he desired a Christian education for them to prepare them for Christian service. His pleasant and cheerful disposition won him many friends. One of his favorite hobbies was collecting Christian records and playing them for his family and friends.

He received his education at the Meno grade school and the Oklahoma Bible Academy.

He was engaged in farming until 1946, when the family moved to Enid. Here he was employed at the Union Equity Elevator “B” where he enjoyed his work and found a special blessing in the morning devotions among the employees.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Rubena, two daughters, Mayre and Sandra of the home; one son, Russel and wife of Enid; his mother, Mrs. Anna Ratzlaff of Meno; three brothers, Adam of Wichita, Kan., Rowland of Meno, and Edwin of Lincoln, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Alma Nazarian of Van Nuys, Calif.; his father-in-law, J. C. Nickols of Cherokee; five brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, one grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Having had the full assurance of peace with his Savior, he was patient to the end. He will be missed, but our loss is his eternal gain. — The Family.
