WILLIAM QUINTUS MOYER

William Quintus Moyer, son of Manassas S. and Anna Eymann Moyer, was born Sept. 14, 1886, on a 40-acre farm in Moniteau County, Mo.

He attended a one-room school in Missouri, and later took a short course in agriculture at Stillwater, Okla.

He married Louise Latschar on Jan. 1, 1915, in the Deer Creek (Okla.) Mennonite Church, with John Lichti in charge. They had four children: Allen, Floyd, Frances and Mary Ellen.

He joined the Deer Creek church in 1902. His membership there spanned nearly 82 years, during which time he served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher of the men's Sunday school class.

He and his wife made their home on the farm for 66 years before moving to the Hillcrest Manor nursing home in Blackwell.

He demonstrated throughout his life a deep interest in the affairs, issues and history of his state, country and world. In the Deer Creek community he served as a member of the school board.

He died June 8, 1983 at the age of 96.

He is survived by his wife Louise; two daughters and husbands, Frances and John Linn of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mary Ellen and Roland Duerksen of Oxford, Ohio; two sons and wives, Allen and Katharine Moyer of Deer Creek and Floyd and Jean Moyer of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Selma, and three brothers, Edwin, John and Otto.
