REV. JACOB MOSER
Jacob Moser, son of John and Barbara Geiger Moser, was born in Canton, Bern, Switzerland, on Dec. 3, 1860. He came with his parents to Sonnenberg, Ohio at the age of 15.
In his youth he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized and received into the Sonnenberg church, where he remained faithful until his death.
On March 19, 1885, he was married to Fanny J. Lehman, who preceded him in death Nov, 30, 1939. They spent joys and sorrows together for 54 years.
On Oct. 2, 1892, he was chosen by lot to the ministry, in which capacity he served for some 40 years, always preaching in the German language. For many years he was engaged in farming, but in later years he retired and moved to Kidron, where he passed away on March 4 after a brief illness, age 88 years three months and one day.
He is survived by two sons, John and Jacob of Dalton; four daughters, Mrs. Noah C. (Rosina) Sommer, Mrs. Menno (Anna) Gerber, Mrs. John (Martha) Kratzer, all of near Kidron, and Mrs. Daniel (Sarah) Kratzer of Canton; 29 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; and two sisters. Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, March 6, at the home and church in charge of Louis Amstutz and Jacob Neuenschwander. Many relatives and friends from a distance attended the funeral. Approximately 600 people were in attendance. Six grandsons, Clarence Gerber, Ford Berg, Richard and Leslie Moser, Carl and Stanley Kratzer, were pall bearers.
