INJURIES PROVE FATAL TO POPULAR BERNE BUSINESS MAN
Berne, Ind., May 16, — Business was practically at a standstill this forenoon while services were being held for one of Berne's well-known business men, Harvey Moser, who died Monday evening from serious injuries received when the automobile he was driving upset near here. Many business places closed up for the services. A very large crowd attended the funeral. Services were held at 9 o'clock from the home and at 9:30 from the Mennonite Church. Burial was made in the M. R. E. secetery [sic cemetery].
Mr. Moser was a highly esteemed business man of Berne, and his sudden death leaves his relatives and friends shocked. Mr. Moser was associated with the Berne Meat Market for the last few years, after having been a livestock buyer for many years.
Death, although expected by some, came as a great shock. His injuries although severe, were not thought by many to be so serious, although Monday afternoon he was sinking fast. The injuries were received when the Chevrolet sedan he was driving upset near his former home, two miles northwest of Berne, Friday night, skidding in the stones. His other companions, Gilbert Stucky, Elmer Luginbill and Dr. Harry Neuenschwander were all injured but all are expected to recover.
Mr. Moser suffered several broken ribs, bad cuts, a congested lung, and when double pneumonia set in, he was an easy victim.
Harvey H. Moser, was born in Berne, on February 26, 1889 , bringing his age to 40 years, 2 months and 17 days. He was the oldest son and the second oldest child in the family of Levi and Judith Winteregg Moser. His entire life was spent in this community, his boyhood days on the farm of his father northwest of Berne.
Mr. Moser was united in marriage with Miss Elda Lehman, daughter of David Lehman, on November 10, 1910, who remains a sorrowing widow with two small daughters, Maxine Romaine, 6, and Willa Mae, aged 3. All but the first of their 19 years of wedded compaionship [sic] were spent in their present home on Franklin street here. — Berne Review.
