FRED MORITZ

Fred Moritz was born Jan. 23, 1892, near Peabody, Kan. to Fred and Minnie Kusch Moritz. In 1902 the family moved by covered wagon to Caddo County, Okla. and settled on a farm near Eakly where he grew to manhood.

Early in life he realized his lost condition and received Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. On May 10, 1907, he was baptized by Rev. Henry Bergthal and received into the Caddo Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1918 he transferred his membership to the Corn M. B. Church, whose faithful member he remained until his departure.

On Jan. 7, 1917 he entered holy matrimony with Millie Nikkel. This union was blessed with three daughters. Our parents established their home on a farm near Colony where they resided until 1951 when they retired and moved to Corn.

Father loved the church, the Bible and the fellowship of the Saints. He prayed much for the salvation of his family.

In the last years his health began to fail. He had to submit to surgery and spent 40 days in the hospital, but the Lord spared him. On Sept. 18 mother was taken from his side and he grieved much and was lonely for her fellowship. The Lord took him to his eternal reward the evening of Oct. 2 while he was resting in his favorite easy chair. He reached the age of 71 years, eight months and nine days.

Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, by two weeks; his parents, five sisters, and three brothers. He leaves to mourn three daughters, Evangeline (Mrs. Erwin Reimer) of Corn, Opal (Mrs. Ed J. Vogt) of Weatherford, Marjorie (Mrs. Verno Reimer) of Corn; three sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Janzen, and one brother Charley, both of Reedley, Calif. — The Family.
