JACOB W. MISHLER

Jacob W. Mishler was born in Lagrange county, near Middlebury, Ind. on April 13, 1860. He passed away Nov. 17, 1949, at the age of 89 years, seven months and four days, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Earl Karn.

He was the son of William and Gertrude (Garber) Mishler, and was united in marriage to Catherine Miller on Sept. 12, 1880, by Rev. Eli Miller.

To this union were born five children: Ida May, the wife of Menno O. Miller, who preceded her father in death by nine years; Wilma Grace, wife of Levi R. Yoder; Barbara Ellen, wife of Olen Yoder; Ethel Edna, wife of Earl Karn, all living near Middlebury, Ind.; and Roy F. Mishler of Yucaipa, Calif.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Polly Miller of Nampa, Idaho, and Mrs. V. Y. Miller of Shipshewana, Ind. Besides three living daughters and one son, these are twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Nine grandchildren preceded him in death. One grandson, Vernon L. Miller, passed away fourteen hours before his grandfather.

He was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for many years. Because of his age and health it was impossible for him to attend services for a number of years, but he was constantly devoted to religious sermons and songs of the radio.

Always cheerful, ready with a smile and a kindly word, father will be missed in our homes. He had made his home with his children since the death of his wife eight years ago. He was very patient—never murmuring nor complaining, a loving father and grandfather. — The Children.
