SANFORD E. MILLER

Sanford Ellwood Miller, 83, of Hesston, Kan., died July 14, 1999, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita. He was born May 20, 1916, at Protection, the son of S. Enos and Ursula Miller.

He married Berta I. Selzer on Dec. 28, 1941, at Protection. He was a farmer, a minister for three years, and a social worker for 24 years, working at the Youth Center at Topeka. He was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, the Kiwanis Club and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, both of Newton.

He served four years in Civilian Public Service. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Schowalter Villa of Hesston and St. Francis Hospital Hospital in Topeka.

He is survived by his wife, Berta; two sons, Stanley E. of Lyons and Stephen D. of Protection; two daughters, Barbara L. Callahan of Topeka and Rebecca L. Frederick of Wimberly, Texas; and a sister, Lehla Selzer of Hesston.
