Mrs. Lena (Kaufman) Miller, daughter of Jacob J. and Frances Kaufman, was born in Childstown Township near Freeman, S. D. on March 23, 1892. She died Sept. 24, 1968 at the Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S. D., at the age of 76 years, six months, and one day.

She grew to womanhood on the farm of her parents. In her youth she was baptized and became a member of the Salem Mennonite Church near Freeman, S. D.

She was married to Ludwig J. Miller, and they shared joys and sorrows for 42 years.

On May 23, 1923 she accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour and presented her body as a living sacrifice. When the Beulah Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church was organized near Hurley, S. D., she became a charter member. Later when this church was discontinued her membership was transferred to the Salem Mennonite Church, of which she remained a faithful and active member until her departure.

Mother served the Lord to the best of her ability. God blessed her with musical talent and she enjoyed singing comforting words to the sick and bereaved. One of her outstanding characteristics was her hospitality and eagerness to help others. Missionaries, ministers, and friends found a warm welcome in her home.

Mother was a faithful Christian. She had a great compassion for the salvation of souls and was a liberal contributor to a number of foreign mission projects.

Mother enjoyed good health until the last few months of her life. In spite of physical suffering, she found comfort in the word of God and Christ Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ludwig, one daughter Deloris, a brother Edward, one sister Anna, and her parents.

She leaves to mourn her departure her daughter Leoda, Mrs. Edward S. Tschetter of Clearfield, Iowa; a son Claude of Marion; one son-in-law, Rev. Edward S. Tschetter; one daughter-in-law, Berniece; four grandchildren; four brothers, Joe, Peter, Paul and Milton; two sisters, Mary and Katie, and a host of relatives and friends.
