A retired farmer, he was born in Lagrange County, Indiana on June 30, 1886 [''sic'' 1866]. He came to Iowa in 1891 and was married here to Katie Brenneman in 1894. She died in 1928.

Surviving are a total of 135 descendants, including four daughters, 23 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren, and one great-great -grandchild. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Sam W. Miller of Kalona.

Great-Grandfather, 97 Dies at Kalona, Ia.

Kalona, Iowa. — Joseph E. Miller, one of the oldest residents of this community, died at his farm home in the Amish settlement near Kalona on March 22. He was 97.

A retired farmer, he was born in Lagrange County, Indiana on June 30, 1886 [sic 1866]. He came to Iowa in 1891 and was married here to Katie Brenneman in 1894. She died in 1928.

Surviving are a total of 135 descendants, including four daughters, 23 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren, and one great-great -grandchild. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Sam W. Miller of Kalona.
