Father of Ten Killed At Partridge, Kan.

Hutchinson, Kan. — Injuries suffered in an unusual accident near here Tuesday, Oct. 11, proved fatal to John D. Miller, 57, father of ten children. He died Sunday morning in Grace Hospital, Hutchinson.

Miller, a farmer and part owner of the Prairie Construction Co., Partridge, was helping construct a septic tank at the farm of his brother, David L. Miller, when a 5x8 foot cement slab toppled over and pinned him beneath it. A metal hook pierced his chest.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Center Amish Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.

He was a lifelong resident of this area, and was married here to Emma Helmuth, who died in 1948. He married Emma Miller in 1949.
