Amish Bishop Dies While Preaching

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — An apparent heart attack while preaching the sermon at Amish church services in the Eli J. S. Mast home near Trail on May 29 proved fatal to Bishop Dan N. Miller, 68.

Bishop Miller had been speaking for about 10 minutes when he remarked that he felt faint. He sat down on a bench and collapsed. He had suffered a heart attack last fall.

Bishop Miller was the long-time leader of the Amish congregation in eastern Holmes County, having been ordained to the office of bishop in 1938. He leaves three daughters and seven son, 28 grandchildren, and three brothers.
