SAM D. MILLER

Samuel D. Miller, son of Daniel A. and Elizabeth (Yoder) Miller, was born on Feb. 14, 1891 near Inman, Kan. He was called to his Heavenly Home on the afternoon of Easter Sunday at the age of 83. He had attended Good Friday communion services and Easter services with Ella, his wife of 61 years. On Easter afternoon he had returned home from visiting a friend in the hospital when he suffered a fatal heart attack.

Funeral services were conducted on April 18 at the Nampa Mennonite church with interment at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Pastor Max Yoder and Pastor Robert Garber, both of Nampa, and Pastor E. S. Garber of Lebanon, Ore. officiated.

Sam was a member of the Mennonite Church, which he served in various capacities from his youth. He loved the church and was deeply concerned that it remain faithful in its calling to glorify Christ.

On Jan. 1, 1913 he and Ella Margaret Miller were married at Jet, Okla., where they were at home until 1941 when they moved to Nampa.

They had three children: W. LaVern of Nampa, Mrs. Jesse (LaVera) Egli of Gilmore City, Ia., and Mrs. Chan (Geneva) Billings of Ringwood, Okla. He was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, one grandson and three foster grandchildren.

He is survived by his immediate family; a sister, Nora Troyer of Hesston, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; two foster granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren and 15 foster great-grandchildren.
