Amish Sisters Killed ln Highway Crash

Topeka, Ind. — Double funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, Jan 10, at the Orla Troyer residence here for Wilma N. Miller, 18, and her sister Katheryn N., 17, who were fatally injured in a car-buggy accident Saturday evening, Jan 6.

The two girls, daughters of Nathaniel E. and Maryann Miller of rural Topeka, were traveling by horse and buggy on a county road and apparently failed to stop at its intersection with a blacktop road one mile west of Topeka. The buggy was hit broadside by an oncoming car driven by Mrs. Emanuel Troyer, 70, of Topeka.

Wilma Miller died a short time after the accident. Her sister was rushed to Lagrange County Hospital and then to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where she died on Monday without regaining consciousness.

Mrs. Troyer was bringing an Amish family back from Nappanee. Neither she nor her passengers was [sic were] injured.

Besides the parents, survivors include six brothers and seven sisters.
