Girl Killed, Four Injured in Two-Car Crash Near Goshen
Goshen, Ind. — A two-car collision at the Smoker's Corner intersection on U.S.-33 near here Aug. 16 claimed the life of 10-year-old Fern Marie Miller of Goshen.
The girl was a passenger in a car driven by her step-father, Vern L. Mishler. Officers reported that the Mishler car came onto the highway from a county road and was hit by a car driven by Connie Rowe, 17, also of Goshen.
Mr. Mishler suffered a fractured leg and other injuries, and another stepdaughter, eight-year-old Ramona Miller, sustained fractures of both legs and a head injury. Miss Rowe and her passenger, Mark A. Troyer, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Troyer of Goshen, were critically injured and both underwent extensive surgery at Elkhart General hospital. The Troyer youth is a junior at Bethany Christian High School.
Funeral services for Fern Marie Miller were held Aug. 19 at Blocker-Harris Chapel here, with Rev. Marvin J. Miller of the Walnut Hill Chapel officiating.
