4-Year-Old Boy Killed While Crossing Street
Sugarcreek, Ohio. — A visit with his cousins in the nearby town of Berlin ended tragically on Oct. 6 for four-year-old Edwin Glenn Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Miller of Route 5, Millersburg.
The boy and three cousins were ready to cross the highway from a frozen custard stand. Edwin stepped onto the roadway first and was struck by an oncoming car, tossing him into the air.
A Millersburg doctor saw the accident and stopped to render first aid, but the lad died of head injuries without regaining consciousness.
Surviving in addition to the parents are three brothers. Funeral services were conducted Oct. 9 at the Eli T. Miller home with Rev. Lester Hostetler officiating. Edwin would have reached his fifth birthday on Oct. 17.
